Meet the team behind our advocacy efforts. The 2026 AWARE team is focused on training tertiary-level students to become confident advocates for antimicrobial stewardship and public health.

Alfred Komladzei

Co-Founder

Alfred Komladzei is a pharmaceutical and public health professional committed to advancing community health outcomes in Ghana. He currently serves as a medical representative with Panacea Pharmaceuticals, where he supports healthcare facilities with evidence-based medication information and promotes safe, effective therapeutic options. Alfred’s broader public health work focuses on strengthening medicine safety awareness, addressing antimicrobial resistance, and combating high-risk substance misuse.

 

As Chair of the Early Career Pharmaceutical Group (ECPG) Public Health Committee and co-founder of Advocates Working Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AWARE-Ghana), he has led strategic sensitization campaigns across multiple regions, reaching students, healthcare providers, and community groups with practical, actionable health education. He remains dedicated to driving initiatives that empower young people, promote responsible health practices, and contribute to a healthier, better-informed Ghana.

Emmanuella Diane Mankartah_edited.jpg

Emmanuella Diane Mankartah

Co-Founder

Emmanuella Diane Mankartah is a Clinical Pharmacist and Researcher with a focus on Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) in human health. She serves as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Ghana School of Pharmacy and is the founder of Advocates Working against Antimicrobial Resistance (AWARE) Ghana, a youth-led NGO empowering tertiary-level students to become AMS advocates. 


Passionate about engaging young people in the fight against antimicrobial resistance, she played a key role in organizing the African Youth AMR Forum, a three-day conference that attracted over 900 participants in its inaugural year and 1,300 the following year. Currently, she supports the Policy and Development Goals team of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in the implementation of FIP Development Goal 17 on AMS. Her research interests focus on integrating AMR education into health professional training through a One Health approach.

Joseph Yaw Okrah

Financial Manager 

Joseph Yaw Okrah is a highly motivated and goal- oriented PharmD student currently in level 500, advancing to level
600. He demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in both academics and professional practice, with keen interest in  the intersection of pharmaceutical care, health systems, and patient- centered outcomes. Known for his smart analytical thinking and system- oriented mindset.

 

Joseph thrives in structured environments where innovation and precision drive results. Beyond his academic pursuits, Joseph is a leader with effective organizational skills from being an organizer and team player who excels in planning, coordinating, and executing tasks efficiently. His leadership qualities and dedication to continuous  learning have earned him recognition among his peers and mentors alike from Osei Tutu SHS and even at the university level, Central University. With a passion for improving healthcare delivery and ensuring the rational use of medicines, Joseph envisions a future where pharmacy practice plays a pivotal role in strengthening public health systems.

 

His disciplined work ethic, problem solving ability, and unwavering focus position him as a promising emerging professional in Ghana's healthcare landscape. Joseph's volunteer roles with organizations such as GPSA, PSFGH, as well as pharmacies has gained him the acumen for such a pivotal role as Financial Manager

Samira Mina Alhassan

Training Coordinator

Dr(Pharm) Samira Mina Alhassan is a Ghanaian pharmacist and Branch Manager at Lena Pharmacy, Ashaiman, where she leads staff training, community outreach, and quality improvement initiatives. She is an active advocate for combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and a member of both AWARE-Ghana and the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC). Her experience includes designing and delivering practical education for healthcare workers, students, and the public on responsible antibiotic use.

She serves as a Research Assistant on the Ministry of Health Ghana– International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) collaborative project focused on antibiotic use in surgical care, where she has developed interview guides for focused group discussions amongst others. Passionate about health literacy, she regularly mentors pharmacy students and coordinates health-screening events that focus on responsible antibiotic use.

She was the Overall Best Candidate in the Ghana Pharmacy Professional Qualifying Examination (GPPQE) 2022 and received the Best Project Work Award in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana, in 2023. 


Her professional interests include community-pharmacy-led AMS, guideline and patient-centred behaviour change.

As Training Coordinator, SMA aims to build scalable, context-appropriate curricula that empower youth leaders to champion responsible antibiotic use across Ghana.

Isabella Green-Harris

Project Coordinator

Isabella Green-Harris is a clinical pharmacist and public health professional passionate about improving health systems through evidence-based interventions and community engagement.

 

She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Applied Health Social Science at the University of Ghana as a WHO/TDR Postgraduate Scholar and is also a UK ALFA Fellow under the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association.

 

Her work focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antimicrobial stewardship, and behavior change in healthcare. Isabella is deeply committed to advancing responsible antibiotic use, capacity building among health workers, and developing sustainable solutions that strengthen healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.

Project Support Specialist

Laverne Akoshia Acquah is a final year pharmacy student at Central University with a strong passion for public health advocacy, research, and youth empowerment. She is committed to advancing health awareness and sustainability through evidence-based initiatives. Over the past few years, Laverne has volunteered with organizations focused on climate action and community health education, contributing to projects that promote environmental responsibility and well-being.

 

Her curiosity about the healing potential of natural products reflects her interest in connecting science, sustainability, and public health, values she also brings into her work in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) advocacy. Her growing focus on AMR aligns with her goal of promoting rational medicine use and strengthening health literacy among young people.

 

Laverne has also been involved in student leadership and capacity-building programs, where she has honed her skills in communication, teamwork, and project coordination. As a Project Support Specialist with AWARE-Ghana, she is eager to apply her research background, creativity, and passion for impact-driven advocacy to support youth-led initiatives in the fight against AMR and contribute to Ghana’s broader public health goals.

Joyce Aframa Asamoah

Chief Editorial Officer

Joyce Aframa Asamoah is a 6th-year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). She is deeply committed to improving public health outcomes through rational medicine use, patient education, and community-centered healthcare initiatives.

 

Joyce has acquired valuable experience in both community and hospital pharmacy practice, where she developed strong competencies in medication management, patient counseling, and
health promotion. Her keen interest in antimicrobial resistance reflects her dedication to advancing responsible antibiotic use and addressing one of the most pressing global health challenges of our time.

 

Beyond her academic pursuits, Joyce is passionate about health advocacy and outreach. She actively participates in initiatives that promote health literacy and empower individuals to make informed healthcare decisions. As a member of AWARE Ghana, Joyce aspires to contribute meaningfully to the organization’s mission of promoting awareness of antimicrobial resistance and fostering healthier communities. Dorothy Sagoe

Research Coordinator

Dorothy Sagoe is a dedicated emerging biomedical scientist leveraging computational genomics and data science to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Ghana. With a Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering degree from the University of Ghana (2023), she excels in applying bioinformatics and advanced analytics to surveillance of malaria and bacterial resistance.

During her undergraduate studies, Dorothy led a pioneering research project that identified novel drug candidates for Mycobacterium tuberculosis using molecular docking and dynamics simulations, thereby advancing prospects for tuberculosis treatment. As a Research Assistant at the Genomics and Bioinformatics Lab, West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP), she analyzes whole-genome sequencing data, employing bioinformatics tools, and machine learning to detect resistance variants with high accuracy. Dorothy continues to hone her skills in data science by building machine learning models, conducting advanced statistical analysis in R, and communicating insights through data visualization to predict resistance variants in malaria and bacteria, thereby strengthening AWARE Ghana’s evidence-based advocacy.

Favour Chukwukelu

Project Support Specialist

Favour Chukwukelu is an emerging public health professional currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health at Central University (2024–2027). She is the Women’s Commissioner for Central University Public Health Students Association (CUPHSA) 2025-2026 academic year. She initiated CUPHSA’s first ever Breast Cancer Awareness Summit in October 2025 and is passionate about Health advocacy, youth empowerment, community health, disease prevention, and environmental safety. She actively participates in outreach and donation programs that improve health awareness and access to accurate health information.

Favour is committed to advancing health equity and sustainable development through evidence-based interventions and education. Her academic leadership and practical experiences have nurtured her interest in public health education and advocacy, occupational health safety, environmental protection and disease control. She aspires to contribute to national, international and global health systems, working on transformative projects that address critical health challenges especially across Africa.

With a strong foundation in project support, health research, and safety management, Favour brings empathy, purpose, and drive to every initiative. She believes in the power of health advocacy to create lasting change and continues to build the skills needed to impact lives locally and globally.

Wisdom Antwi

Project Support Specialist

Wisdom Antwi is a student pharmacist at Central University and the deputy International Relations Officer for the Ghana Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (GPSA) and grant committee member PSFGh. He has a deep passion for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) advocacy, public health education, and youth leadership development.


Wisdom has led and supported several AMR-focused programs aimed at raising awareness on the dangers of antibiotic misuse and strengthening youth engagement in antimicrobial stewardship. His advocacy experience also includes national health campaigns such as the SHUN the Yawa Campaign on HIV/AIDS stigma reduction and the Healthy Earth, Healthy Us initiative promoting environmental health and climate action.


As a virtual assistant and communicator, he leverages digital platforms to drive impactful health conversations. Wisdom believes that empowering young people with knowledge and responsibility is key to winning the fight against AMR and achieving lasting public health change.

Josephine G. Bediako

Content Development Officer

Dr. Josephine Gyankama Bediako is a dedicated pharmacist passionate about promoting safe drug use and improving public health outcomes in Ghana. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and has gained valuable experience through internships and community pharmacy practice.

Beyond her professional work, Dr. Bediako is a strong advocate for health education and responsible medication use. She leverages community engagement and digital platforms to raise awareness about safe drug practices, mental health, and faith-driven wellness. Her initiatives aim to empower individuals with practical knowledge to make informed health decisions.

Driven by compassion and a commitment to evidence-based healthcare, she envisions a society where people understand the importance of medication safety and actively participate in their own well-being.

Nana Kwasi Peprah

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Driven by a passion for evidence-based healthcare and strategic leadership, Nana Kwasi Peprah is a licensed pharmacist and public health advocate dedicated to advancing antimicrobial stewardship and data-informed decision-making in Ghana’s health sector. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and has accumulated diverse experience spanning clinical and community practice.

As Monitoring & Evaluation Officer at AWARE-Ghana, Nana integrates analytical insight with strategic coordination to assess program performance, strengthen AMR awareness initiatives, and inspire youth-led collaborations that drive impactful public health outcomes.

Nana believes that effective health leadership is built on data, empathy and accountability. His professional interests include health systems strengthening, digital health innovation and policy evaluation, all aimed at transforming healthcare delivery through measurable results and sustainable change. Currently, Nana Kwasi serves as a pharmacist at the Trust Specialist Hospital, where he contributes to patient-centered pharmaceutical care and evidence-based therapeutic management

Pearl Osei Akoto

Social Media Manager

Dr. Pearl Osei Akoto is a pharmacist and a public health advocate with a keen interest in Antimicrobial Resistance. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) with her professional experience spanning industry, regulatory, hospital, and community pharmacy practice, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems and patient involvement.

Pearl’s exposure to AMR advocacy began during her clinical rotations where she witnessed gaps in awareness and antibiotic stewardship. This experience inspired her involvement in AWARE-Ghana’s antimicrobial resistance campaigns, where she also believes that youth voices and digital storytelling can drive lasting change.

Beyond healthcare, she channels her creativity through her Crochet business, which has strengthened her understanding of visual communication and brand engagement.

Currently as Social Media Manager, Pearl brings together her background in pharmacy and creativity to enhance AWARE-Ghana’s online presence, promote awareness, behavioral change, and collective action against AMR and inspire youth-led action for better antibiotic stewardship.

Bridget Dzidzinu Ankah

Social Media Manager

Bridget Dzidzinu Ankah is a dedicated pharmacist with a strong interest in healthcare service, research, and scientific advancement. She currently serves as a pharmacist at Hem Pharmacy, where she provides patient-centred care and ensures the safe and effective use of medications. In addition to her pharmacy practice, Bridget works as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), supporting academic instruction, mentoring students, and contributing to ongoing research projects.

She also serves part-time as a microbiologist at the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM) Laboratory, UHAS, where she assists in diagnostic testing, microbial analysis, and quality assurance. Her multidisciplinary experience allows her to bridge the gap between pharmaceutical care, laboratory science, and academic research.

Bridget is passionate about continuous learning and innovation in healthcare, with particular interest in antimicrobial stewardship, data-driven health solutions, and improving public health outcomes. She values professionalism, collaboration, and integrity in all her engagements.

He is committed to bridging clinical practice and public health to create more resilient health systems in Ghana and beyond.
